YTP Length was born out of a simple, everyday frustration. While self-studying software engineering and web development, our creator, Gokul, noticed that planning daily learning schedules was surprisingly difficult. Tutorial playlists on YouTube can range anywhere from three hours to over fifty hours of total running time, and they are often packed with dozens of individual videos. There was no easy way to answer simple questions like: "How long will it take me to complete this course if I watch it at 1.5x speed?" or "How much video content is remaining if I start from video number 10?"
Determined to solve this, Gokul built YTP Length as a lightweight, lightning-fast utility to parse YouTube playlists and calculate precise durations. What started as a small personal script quickly evolved into a fully-fledged web application designed to help self-learners, bootcamp students, and educators globally. Today, YTP Length is used by thousands of students to organize their study cycles, bypass tutorial hell, and plan their educational journeys with custom range filters, playback speed calculations, and advanced sorting algorithms.
Our ultimate goal is to keep YTP Length 100% free, lightweight, and ad-supported without cluttering the user interface. We believe that access to education should be as frictionless as possible. We actively iterate on user feedback to bring new features, such as our recently launched YouTube Channel Length tool, which allows users to estimate the total uploads runtime of any creator.
I am Gokul, a software engineer by profession who loves solving real-world problems with code. I enjoy building lightweight, user-focused web tools that improve daily digital workflows. My passion lies in web performance, clean code, and making open-source utilities accessible to everyone. When I'm not writing code, you can find me writing blogs, learning new frameworks, or self-studying via educational playlists.
I built YTP Length to solve my own problem of calculating tutorial runtimes while preparing learning tracks. I needed a tool that could skip introductory videos, average out durations, and calculate times at different playback speeds. You can read my full development story, JavaScript implementation journey, and the tech stack challenges in my dedicated blog post here .
YTP Length is a free online tool that helps you calculate the total duration of any YouTube Playlist or YouTube Music Playlist in a single click. Unlike standard video listings, YTP Length allows you to sort videos by Views, Likes, and Duration, and lets you isolate specific ranges (e.g. videos 10 to 30) to compute stats on just the sections you need. We keep it fast, simple, and free forever. If you are interested to learn how I built YTP Length tool, check here .
